
…Pre-Fade Listen. What you see behind me here is the Studer OnAir 1500 digital mixing desk for radio broadcasting (installed back in the early 2000s by a company at the time called Oxford Sound & Media).

It’s a great desk: clean lines, easy faders, and relatively simple intuitive controls for on- and off-air monitoring. The surrounding woodworking is by a carpenter and cabinet-maker whose other line of business is fitted kitchens and bedrooms. But as he told me, he prefers fitting out radio studios. Sadly for him there are more bedrooms and kitchens in this world than there are radio studios.
